There are many different types of trauma and each person’s reaction to an event depends upon a host of factors, such as whether you were able to “process” the event with the right support systems.

If you think of trauma, what comes to mind are usually tragic life events that leave a mark on your psyche and physiology. But the more common, less obvious trauma stems from childhood.

One of the first things to understand about childhood trauma is that there’s no set "cause-and-effect" relationship.

To give you a better idea about what constitutes childhood trauma, here are some of the more common events:
  • Childhood abuse (emotional, sexual or physical)
  • Witnessing violence
  • Bullying
  • Community or school violence
  • Assault
  • Natural disasters
  • Loss of a loved one
  • Neglect (even the most loving parents may have unintentionally neglected basic needs for safety, security, love, validation.)
  • Serious illness or accident
  • ​Intergenerational Trauma
  • Mentally ill caregivers
  • Abandonment
  • Divorce

It's important to note that these are just some common examples of core wounds that causes trauma, but they may not reflect any of the traumatic experiences you've endured.

There's a direct correlation between traumatic events and our current undesired patterns.

The connection between our past experiences, the subconscious mind-body and what we attract in life is stronger than you might realize. 

Our self destructive behaviors and most painful patterns stem from learning how to survive our most difficult life situations; when our
 physical safety was endangered, social-emotional relationships severed, or self-esteem damaged.

Experiences that got embedded onto the subconscious mind and projected out into our lives as themes; from the relationships and situations we attract, to the illnesses that we manifest.  

​It's not personal.... it's principle.

You're not bad or broken. You're simply stuck in an old construct of thinking, feeling and doing.

But the laws that govern our Universe interact with the subconscious programs, and don't care about your good intentions to change your life. 


​Until we learn to heal the relationship with our past and rewire new subsconscious programming, we'll remain STUCK repeating old disempowered patterns. 

Only by confronting what's hidden in the shadows of the subconscious can you begin to heal and change your core wound patterns, helping you evolve consciousness and grow. ​

Are you feeling...

  • ​feel emotionally or spiritually bankrupt? 
 
  • avoid, put off difficult things or conversations?

4 Levels of a Trauma Practice

1. Trauma Aware 
  • Realizes the widespread prevalence of trauma and its impact on human behavior ​

2. Trauma-Informed
  • ​5 Elements that guides policies, practices, and procedures 
    • The Five Guiding Principles are; safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness and empowerment.
  • Understands that re-traumatization while often unintentional is always hurtful 

 
3. Trauma-Sensitive 
  • 4R's (Realize, Recognize, Respond, Reduce Re-traumatization)
  • Enhanced trauma awareness; honoring the body-mind’s deep survival mechanisms
  • Focuses on heightening body awareness, reducing hyper-arousal, engaging sensation (Cross Mapping, Core Centering, Tai Chi/Qigong, Yoga, Mindfulness, Breathwork) ​
 
4. Trauma-Specific 
  • Engages traumatic memories
  • Reduces symptoms
  • Promotes healing
  • Teaches skills
  • Psycho-dynamic modalities (Psychedelic Therapy, SBMC, others)


​Not all programs or even therapists have a trauma sensitive or specific practice
